The May issue of American Cinematographer offers a special focus on industry mentorship and inclusion. A Q&A with Bradford Young, ASC charts the cinematographer’s career path and the support he received along the way, and an article on the ASC Mentorship Program details the experiences of Society members and their mentees. The issue also includes an update on the progress of Carmen Cabana, Kira Kelly and Anka Malatynska, directors of photography who were selected by the magazine in prior years as “Rising Stars of Cinematography.” An inside view of the indie drama Swallow showcases the work of Katelin Arizmendi. Pictorial spreads provide walk-throughs of the 34th annual ASC Awards, as well as a Vision Committee inclusion-advocacy event hosted by Panavision earlier in the year. Additionally, Thomas Fletcher and Gary Adcock’s Camera Comparison Chart is presented along with a brief history of the project — and our monthly salute to AC’s centennial features a survey of the magazine’s coverage during the 1960s
