The Mountain Between Us

Mandy Walker, ASC, ACS partnered with director Hany Abu-Assad for this harrowing survival story. When the small plane they’re sharing crashes high up in a remote mountain range, killing the pilot, Alex (Kate Winslet) and Ben (Idris Elba) have to fend for themselves and make their way through unforgiving terrain. Walker and members of her crew take readers behind the scenes of the location shoot in British Columbia, with additional photography completed in London.

Camerimage 25th Anniversary

November marks the 25th installment of the Camerimage Film Festival. Taking place in Bydgoszcz, Poland, the festival is a celebration of the art of cinematography, and over the years it’s honored countless cinematographers, with annual recognitions also bestowed on directors and other collaborators. AC spoke with the festival’s organizers, attendees and honorees to present an oral history of this uniquely situated cinematic experience.
