Maryse Alberti teamed with director John Curran to tell this true story from the summer of 1969, when Massachusetts Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy (Jason Clarke) crashed his car off of a bridge in the titular town; the car’s passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne (Kate Mara) died in the accident. Alberti details her approach to the production’s period setting.

Bjorn Charpentier, SBC — one of AC’s Rising Stars of Cinematography in 2017 — was behind the camera for this thriller, which premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival. Jon Hamm stars as Mason Skiles, a U.S. diplomat who’s brought to war-torn Beirut by CIA operative Sandy Crowder (Rosamund Pike) to negotiate for the life of a friend. Charpentier takes readers behind the scenes of the production.
